Customizing your motocross is much more than a matter of looks. It is a way to express your identity, to stand out, but also to protect your fairings. For a result that meets your expectations, it is essential to avoid the common mistakes that many riders make.

Top 9 mistakes to avoid when applying a motorcycle graphics kit

At Pro Rider Design, we support every rider in applying their custom graphics kit. Here are the pitfalls to avoid for a professional, long-lasting and flawless result.

1. Not cleaning the surface of your bike thoroughly enough

A wipe-down is not enough. You must thoroughly clean all the plastics on your bike to remove dust, grease, adhesive residue… A poorly prepared surface compromises adhesion.

2. Forgetting the degreaser when cleaning your bike

Degreasing is essential, even after a thorough wash. Use a residue-free product (such as isopropanol) to eliminate invisible impurities and ensure perfect adhesion.

3. Ignoring the Pro Rider Design installation guide

Use our 5-step recommendations for applying your motorcycle graphics kit. Not reading our article means risking applying it crooked, creating bubbles or creases… Take the time to follow the instructions, step by step.

4. Being too rushed when applying the graphics kit

Time is key. Heating the vinyl, properly positioning the elements, chasing out bubbles… all of this requires patience. Don't install your kit in a rush between two ride sessions!

5. Applying your graphics kit in poor conditions

Ambient temperature plays a crucial role. Applying a graphics kit in winter or in an unheated garage increases the risk of poor adhesion. Ideally, install your kit between 18°C and 25°C, away from humidity.

6. Using unsuitable wrapping tools

Pushing air bubbles out with your finger or the first tool that comes to hand? Absolutely not!

A credit card or a cloth are a very good start, although we can only recommend a professional squeegee. To avoid bubbles and ensure a perfect smooth finish, use the right tools (squeegee, hairdryer or heat gun, precision cutter…).

7. Touching the adhesives with your fingers

Our graphics kits are ultra-adhesive, but greasy fingerprints on the adhesive can reduce their effectiveness. Handle the stickers by the edges and avoid touching the adhesive surface.

8. Not letting the bike graphics rest after application

Once the kit is applied, you must let the vinyl adhere for at least 24 hours, at room temperature, without humidity or prolonged exposure to sunlight. This "resting" time is crucial for long-lasting hold.

9. Choosing a low-end graphics kit

Even with the best technique, a poor-quality vinyl peels, fades or cracks quickly.
At Pro Rider Design, we only use premium materials, tested to withstand shocks, mud and high-pressure washing.

For example, our Custom graphics kit Yamaha YZ 125/250 (2006-2021) offers a perfect long-lasting hold, even with intensive use.
