Tips from the Pro Rider Design team

At Pro Rider Design, we know how much your graphics kit and custom protections mean to you. It's what gives your bike its character, that little something extra that makes it unique. So take care of them to keep them at their best, ride after ride!

Here are the team's tips for properly maintaining your graphics kits and protections, and extending their lifespan without any hassle.

Why is it important to maintain your graphics kit?

A graphics kit isn't just there to look good. It protects your plastics, resists scratches, mud, intensive washing… as long as it's properly maintained.
A good clean, a few precautions and a little attention are enough to keep the colors vibrant and the adhesion impeccable. And honestly, it makes all the difference over time!

After every ride: a quick but effective clean

Clean your motocross kit:

  • Lukewarm water
  • A mild soap (such as motorbike shampoo or washing-up liquid)
  • A non-abrasive sponge or a microfibre cloth
  • A soft brush for hard-to-reach areas

Absolutely avoid: high-pressure jets too close to the edges of the kit, harsh degreasers and abrasive sponges.

Simple steps for cleaning your motocross

  1. Rinse with clean water to remove mud and residue.
  2. Hand wash with a soft sponge and a mild soap. Nothing better for preserving the adhesive.
  3. Gently scrub the edges if needed, but always with a soft brush.
  4. Rinse thoroughly to remove any soap residue.
  5. Dry with a clean microfibre cloth. It's quick, it prevents streaks, and it extends the lifespan of your graphics.

A little tip from the team: make it a habit to clean your graphics kit as soon as you get back. It prevents dirt from embedding, and lets you spot any signs of wear.

Give it a little boost after washing

A clean is good. But extra protection is even better! Once your graphics kit is completely dry, you can apply a silicone spray suitable for plastics and stickers.

This:

  • revives the colors,
  • makes the graphics shine like new,
  • and makes the next cleaning easier.

⚠️ Avoid products that are too greasy or oily: they can make surfaces slippery (and that's not ideal, especially for grip).

And what about custom protections?

Whether it's for the frame, the swing arm or the tank, your custom protections are there to take the hits and protect your bike.
Here's how to keep them in top condition:

  • Clean them with the same mild products as for the graphics.
  • Dry them carefully.
  • Check regularly that they are properly in place.
  • Replace them as soon as they show signs of wear (peeling, cracks, excessive wear).

Pro tip: don't let moisture settle after washing. Drying properly is the key to preventing edges from lifting over time.

What if you're not riding for a while?

Proper storage makes all the difference:

  • Keep your motocross or quad out of direct sunlight to prevent the graphics from fading.
  • Use a breathable cover, not an airtight plastic that traps moisture.
  • Avoid places that are too hot or humid.

It's simple, but it avoids a lot of unpleasant surprises when you take the bike out again.

What if part of the kit starts to wear out?

No need to panic! Our kits are made to last, but if an element starts to peel or deteriorate, it won't be for several years! But if your kit is really starting to look worn, the best thing is to replace it.
